Logistics sector is expected to provide 80,000 jobs to Omanis by 2020, according to Minister of Transport and Communications, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi.
The number far exceeds the current target of 15,000 citizens, who are to be employed by the private sector.
Speaking at the Shura Council meeting on Sunday, Al Futaisi also said with the new Muscat International Airport opening next month, a committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Manpower to look into employing workers engaged in the airport project. Their contracts are expected to end soon.
